So well said Peter. What is wrong with those bean counters? History will look back on these years and and note that profit overtook art in so many ways. At 65 I have come to realize it is up to people like you and me to banish "profit at all costs" from the arts and so many other places where honesty, dignity and doing the right thing have been trampled on. Shaw wrote "Major Barbara" a hundred years ago. The message is still the same today.
Learned a lot from this piece. Always do. Thoroughly enjoy Noir Alley. Those intros and outros are mini classes each week. The brain engages. Enjoyed your prior Trump piece as well. Keep it coming;
Charade is such an excellent movie with wonderful acting. The story tellers here did a superb job. I agree with you about TCM--it is a gem. It’s a shame that its future is in trouble. It’s also a shame that these corporate CEOs that make such unrealistic decisions get paid extravagant salaries and bonuses for very little pertinent work (and unfortunate that it happens in every industry). I love your storytelling, Peter. I see your name on the credits of “Blue Bloods” and have enjoyed your books. Hoping things turn out well. Really enjoying your Substack
I have seen Air and Blackberry. Two recent films I have immensely enjoyed. It's good to know I can still enjoy the new ones. Good is good.
