Tod Goldberg has a great line regarding DOG DAY AFTERNOON "in his book GANGSTERS DON'T DIE. Matthew to David, "You look like a young Pacino. Like DOG DAY AFTERNOON. When he had an edge."
"Never saw that one."
"Sure you did. he said. You know Attica! Attica!
"Oh yes," David said. "Bank robbers."
Then they go on to SERPICO.
This exchange got a SMILE out of me. On page 78 in the hardback (library book). Since DDA is one of your favorites.
Started the year off reading Sonny Boy. Pacino's memoir. I listened to it on Audible. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Pacino did the audio. I need to see Dog Day Afternoon and Serpico directed by Sidney Lumet. I've only seen bits and pieces of both. The 50th anniversary of the Godfather came out two or three years ago. I should rewatch The Godfather because Paramount didn't want any of them. Learned a lot. Coppola actually had to have a sit down with Pacino and told him he had to deliver. Love all of your film articles.

Dog Day is one of my all-time favorites. Really captures what the city was like at the time and is one of Pacino’s greatest roles.
Attica!
Thanks for these films PB. Chocolate eclairs were my favorite! From Sam-the-ice-cream-man in Stuyvesant Town on 20th St. between 1st Ave and Ave. C.
